I guess I wouldn’t say it isn’t, as there is a couple that ships them, but:
1. The couple… idk if they even got ash & May’s names? Lol they just met them this episode. Compare that to Harley whose bumped into Drew & May a lot more often (at least a lot more than once an episode) & sees something going on.
2. According to them, a couple argues/gets mad at each other a lot. Ash & May only argue in this episode. Sure there are times when one (Ash or May) would get irritated & snap at the other, but after that that’s it & they never were at each other’s throats besides this episode. It’s not like Misty & Ash where they’re at each other’s throats, insulting each other, etc… (thank goodness). I’m sure if the couple saw Ash & Misty interacting, they’d be all about Ash & Misty being a couple instead.
3. Adding on to 2, are they ACTUALLY a couple? We never saw them arguing & they constantly agreed on everything. Lol I don’t know why they’d lie about being a couple though, but…
4. When accused of being in love with each other, none of them blushed to show hidden feelings or show any nervousness, unlike May with Drew when her mom teases her about Drew or when Harley did.
So I do like advanceshipping, but I don’t really see this episode to be that huge for advanceshipping.

I’d say it’s an “advanceshipping episode” in the sense that it got its boost in popularity from that episode (or so I heard). I personally think the movies, or even episode one (of the Hoenn series) provide better advanceshipping hints in my eyes, but now that it’s highlighted in the 1st option of the poll, a COUPLE thinks they have hidden romantic feelings for each other. Not one friend/rival of theirs, not just one parent, but people DATING think they’ll get together. The other pokegirls that got other people teasing/wanting to be a couple were not a couple themselves (most anyways). That’s as best it gets though, because as you said, nothing about Ash and/or May in this episode showed any desire to actually want to get with each other. And yeah, the couple probably be huge pokeshippers if they could somehow see how Ash and Misty were around each other 😖 And in the beginning, May got super irritated just thinking of Drew, so they’d probably say she’s deeply in love with him lol.
They’re not actually a couple? That’d be a twist. It’d be hilarious if they were brother & sister or just friends, & agreed to go annoying people who were opposite genders & looking like they hate each other & troll them. Maybe that’s why they ditched Jessie & James when they were like, “oh yea, we are totally madly in love your right!”

PraiseLordMagikarp Hmm I donno. I guess it’s just how you want to look at it, as hints are mostly speculating that it’s pointing A will end with B. I mainly just see it as a filler episode getting kids to wonder if Ash & May will continue to be friends and for comedy. It’s also could be that practically ALL pokegirls have someone who comments that they’d make a cute couple, or ask if they’re dating that I can’t see it as a hint anymore. And I think people who would seen them more than one episode and say something to say they should date is much bigger. Ash & May only really argued in this episode, after all. Plus like we said, what made the couple believe they were in love would better apply to other people with them. But who knows if that one nurse Joy that made that pokeshipping comment is dating/married or not. We all know Caroline who teases her daughter May about Drew, is married☺️ If they weren’t dating & we’re going around trolling people, wouldn’t that make things akaward though? Like if they try asking someone out, & someone they trolled could ask, “oh what happened to your boyfriend/girlfriend we battled against?” Be really weird if they’re siblings as well 😅

Mighty HoundoomIt is just how people look at it. I don’t think the writers ever cared to put Ash with anyone. They’ve kept him 10 yrs old for a reason. There are lots of hints showing most pokegirls have a crush on Ash (as well as some other girls), but I don’t think any of them was ever planned to go anywhere, like Brock “falling in love” with every pretty girl. Heck, maybe with all the alternative universes the show has thrown at us since XY(Z), they’ll probably have Ash end with all the ladies when they decide to end it, just in different universes. BAM! Everyone happy! I just realize something weird with Brock now… He goes around asking all these girls to go out with him, but doesn’t know if they’re dating someone else or married. 😰 But in any case, that’d make 1 person teasing/saying they’d make a good couple. The “couple” in the episode we are talking about BOTH are “convinced” Ash and May are in love. Though Norman, he’s practically oblivious as Ash when it comes to love as shown in that one episode, so it might be a lot to expect him to show bias for who his kids should end up with. In any case, this episode definitely points to pokeshipping than anything imo. Like we explained, the couple only believed Ash & May were a couple because they were arguing. Ash and Misty CONSTANTLY argued, while May and Ash only argued this episode. I’m honestly glad advanceshipping isn’t like pokeshipping though. It’s better that way. Theres a simple fix for Andy/Oscar if that happens (looked their names up lol). They just go, “what’s wrong with you!? That’s my brother/sister! I’d never date him/her!” or pretend to not know what they’re talking about and that they never met the person before. Or if their just friends they can just pretend they broke up long ago & agreed to just be friends.

PraiseLordMagikarpYeah and not just Ash. Only people who is going to end up with someone are CotD or more side-like adults like Kukui. I doubt anyone is 100% is ending up with someone who ended up in the main cast (May, Misty, Dawn, Lillie, Brock, etc…) as they are too young, this isn’t that type of show, & the anime mainly exists as a marketing tool & is going to go on as long as they can milk it. But how would it show Ash getting with all the girls? By Dialga/palkia (whatever deals with dimensions) missing something up? There was an episode bringing Brock in, he was with a chick that had a truck/semi & they bumped into Ash. Brock at first was planning to ride forever with her, but then her “honey” called & she ditched Brock after she hung up. 😅 I think her own mom teasing May about Drew is a stronger hint than this could ever be. Plus, May was also teased by Harley, who has known Drew & May (&Ash) more than the weirdo “couple.” And yeah, Norman couldn’t get that his wife & kids believe he’s having an affair with a nurse Joy. He’s not going to ever pick on up on anything romantic going on with his children. 😂 And this is why I don’t see it as a good advanceshipping episode. It revolved around Ash & May arguing which is why the “couple” accused them being in love in the first place, when the main thing that advanceshippers like about it is that they get along so well & have a strong friendship & care about each other. Though like this couple, I wonder if Lyra would be a huge pokeshipper too. She started shipping Ash & Dawn together seeing them yell at each other, after all. I’d still think when they go somewhere & whoever they’re dating hears others ask about dating their sibling so many times, they’d definitely start doubting/questioning some things.😅 Them saying they broke up long ago could work if they didn’t prank the person recently, or have their date be upset with them, with the person being like, “…You two were saying you were a couple yesterday! That’s not that long ago!”

Mighty Houndoom There going to be forever ten years old (or at least as long as the show survives the are), & most kids aren’t into romance that much. Plus this show is more of an action show (not that kind of action lol), not romance. The best you could look for is CotDs getting together if one crushes on another, or something like Ren getting with that purple haired chick at the end maybe. Oh, I guess Pokemon can be written off that way, like Jessie’s Dustox & Ash’s butterfree. Weird idea for end of pokeani time: Ash is 20 yrs old & he became a “Pokemon master.” However Giovanni found out Ash is behind thwarting other evil team organizations (aqua+magma, galactic, plasma, etc…) & decides to somehow get them to join up with him to take down Ash and kill him (gotta be fair to other ships, if actual universe Ash ended with someone people can go “ha! My ship is true canon!”). Then they plan to take over the multiverse (in fact, Giovanni can help them agree to the plan To get rid of Ash together with this). This causes Ash’s from other universes to step up & have to work together to stop all the villains with the help of all the previous traveling companions, & in doing so each Ash develops feelings for each girl & vice versa. Then Ho Oh comes & revives actual universe Ash (come on, there’s no permadeath of Ash) & all the girls go with the AU ash’s. Heck, that could lead to other ships being canon too! Like the au Ash that ended with May telling her, “I always had feelings for you in my universe, but I had to let you go as you fell for Drew…” 😂 I think I remember that! I wonder if something like that happened with prof. Ivy, & is why you can’t mention that name around him. Like, Mr. Ivy came home one day from a long business trip & 1st thing he did was kiss his wife in front of Brock which broke his heart. There’s definitely stronger hints with contestshipping. While there are “more hints” for advanceshipping, contestshipping has much more convincing hints. Though, advanceshipping is still really cute! If May & her boyfriend kissed, Norman could still not get it. Norman: Oh, did someone trip? Should be more careful! This episode I think maybe helped people see the possibility of it because people were accusing them of being in love. Most other advanceshipping hints friendshippy stuff & nothing really pointing them to be canon. This episode teased the idea of them being in love & was the biggest hint until the splitting of the ribbon. The thing is, looking at Ash adventure as a whole (even just looking at only OS & Hoenn series), this isn’t that great of a hint for advanceshipping as not only has May been accused of having romantic feelings for Drew more than once, Ash & Misty have been accused of being in love multiple times as well. And focusing on the why the “couple” thinks people are in love would point to pokeshipping. So this one episode does little for it due to that. I have to see the Lyra episodes again, but she’s seen them also get along & work together as well, which may still make her think Dawn should get with Ash. Lol good points. Maybe they could not care about love really & just have fun messing with people.

That’s a interesting way to end the pokeani, though it would require the writers to care to do that, and also require heavy planning, which I doubt they’ll be able to ever do for the only way they’d end the show is if they have to cancel the show. And if they just have Ash leave the show, they’ll just leave him 10 yrs old. The best we can hope for for Ash to get married, is at the end show Ash’s child/children run off on their journey with Ash’s wife never shown. Sounds like something that could happen to him😅 Sadly, the world may never know what happened with Prof. Ivy. Lol if Norman thought someone tripped when kissing, I’d think he needs to stop watching anime😂 It also must have put some of pokeshipping and contestshipping moments into question. As for those who talk about all those who say/seem to believe Ash and Misty were in love, they were likely single/don’t seem to be in a relationship. True, Lyra would probably still be a pearlshipper even if she saw Ash and Misty interacting. She didn’t try to push them together till like the end of her arc. But yea, she saw Ash and Dawn yelling at each other and laughed and said something like, “the more you fight, the more you care about each other, right?” Lol just trolling people for the end of time. They would probably not have a lot of friends if they go around messing with people like that.

Yay! I can be here again! Mighty Houndoom Nah, never thought the writers cared that much for the series. Plus, they are ending his 25+ year journey with just 11 episode series, looking like It’d be 11 episode filler with his Pokemon, himself, Misty, and Brock 🤦♀️ And speaking of Ash’s child going on their own adventure after Ash’s retires wHoSe RiKo’S m0m?!?!?! lol if he watches anime like that though, how is Norman so oblivious when it comes to love? I’ guessing he thinks a lot of tsundres are sick a lot of times. Yep, who knows the status of that one Nurse Joy who commented on Ash & Misty’s relationship, & others who questioned if they’re dating were obviously single. I still think it’s better those who seen two people interact & are close to them would know better, though. But in all honesty, I don’t really care much for hints that have other people (incorrectly) guess that they’re dating or going to get married in the future. Give me substance, not force the idea to us that “their perfect for each other!!!” just cuz. Man, where they for the “arguing=love” cliché for the longest time.
